Petrified wood

A massive slab of polished fossil wood. This specimen is a Manganese rich fossil, hence the black and white colours. Most fossil wood does not look like this. This particular specimen, with its incredible stripes, is one of a kind.

All our large fossil wood specimens come from Indonesia.

This wood was Fossilised, or "petrified" at the end of the Cretaceous period, as the earth was struck by a meteor killing up to 90% off all life on earth (including non-avian dinosaurs such as T-rex!)

This wood lived through an era of Earth's history dominated by giant lizards!
