Baby steppe mammoth teeth found at the trans-carpathian mountains in Hungary. Mammoths inhabited the earth during the Pleistocene period. This mammoth would have most likely been 0-3 years old at time of death, potentially killed by humans or other predators. Adult mammoths could live to 60+ years old.

Mammoths are incredibly famous fluffy/Woolly elephants that populated the earth during the Pleistocene era. Despite common belief, evidence suggests mammoths were NOT killed off by humans, at least not directly. Mammoths most likely died out slowly, mostly due to climate change leading to the plants they fed on disappearing due to temperature shifts. Mammoths thick fur and skin meant early humans tools would have most likely shattered on impact, unable to kill an adult mammoth (although it is believed humans may have hunted baby mammoths, separating them from their herd).
